Wilson Ave Hy Vee
Connie Parrish Heidemann is a lifelong resident of the Cedar Rapids area. As a student at Jefferson High School in 1973 she started working as a checker at the Hy-Vee Drugstore on Wilson Avenue. Over the past 50 years, her career at Hy-Vee led to several management positions and eventually the role of human resource manager, which she has held for 16 years.
In 2008 Connie was recognized with Hy-Vee’s Legendary Customer Service award. She has been honored to work with Goodwill and Prairie High School to allow special students to become a part of the workforce. She has visited schools to speak about her career and the jobs that Hy-Vee offers.
Connie credits Scott Youngberg, Scott Gilbert, Greg Wery, Pat Lamb, Katie Good and Elise Scheil for giving her guidance and allowing her to grow within the HR position.
Connie is looking forward to retirement and spending time with her greatest supporters: her husband, Dave; her children, Ryan, Chris and Kelsey; her mom, Alma Parrish; her siblings, Bonnie and Doug; and her nine grandchildren.
