Eastern Iowa Honor Flight
Outstanding Community Leadership Award Recipient
Lynette Voss is the president of Eastern Iowa Honor Flight and has been volunteering there since 2017. The Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization, takes veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor.
From her first day as a volunteer, Voss knew she wanted to get more involved in the organization. Over the past seven years, she’s filled a range of positions and was recently elected president. Voss is passionate about providing this day of honor to our veterans. Whether they served stateside or internationally, wartime or peace, they signed a blank check to defend our country. The Honor Flight gives us the chance to thank veterans for their service.
Voss has worked for CCB Packaging in Hiawatha for 30 years. She spent eight years in the United States Navy Reserve: six years active and two years inactive. She trained in Florida, California and Yokosuka, Japan. To her disappointment, Voss was not activated during Desert Storm with the rest of her unit.
Voss is an Iowa native but moved to Eastern Iowa in the early ‘90s. Her faith and family have been her biggest source of joy. She was blessed with two wonderful boys, Dalton and Nathan. Dalton and his wife, Kenzie, have two boys of their own. Voss and her husband Mark live in Walker, Iowa, and enjoy a beautifully blended family of five children and six grandchildren.
