City of Cedar Rapids
Angie Charipar is the assistant city manager for the City of Cedar Rapids and has served the city in various roles since 2009. She supports the city manager and city council by providing strategic guidance on various projects and initiatives related to city operations and community engagement. She oversees the city’s communications and transit divisions and organizational health, sustainability, and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Her experience and diverse roles have enhanced the city’s growth, efficiency and inclusivity. Her work has helped the city to secure $278 million in state aid and $306 million in federal aid for the Cedar River Flood Control System. Charipar has initiated several lasting, impactful city programs, including SAFE-CR and Neighborhood P.A.C.T.
Charipar holds a bachelor’s in political science from the University of Iowa and completed Harvard’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program in 2023. Prior to her work with the City of Cedar Rapids, Charipar spent ten years in Congressman Jim Leach’s office and then worked for AEGON as their Political Action Committee grassroots manager. Charipar is the recipient of the Iowa City Management Association’s Emerging Leader Award (2017) and the Corridor Business Journal Women of Influence Award (2018).
